Today is the last chance for Ohioans to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election. The registration deadline is Oct. 5, and anyone not registered by the end of the day will have to sit this one out.

County boards of elections and the Ohio secretary of state's office will stay open until 9 p.m. tonight to accept registrations. Voters who are already registered can begin using the state's early voting and absentee voting options starting Oct. 6.

Ohioans can register or update their information online at olvr.ohiosos.gov. To complete the process online you will need an Ohio driver's license or state ID number, your name, date of birth, address and the last four digits of your Social Security number.

Those who cannot provide that information can download a paper registration form and mail it to their county board of elections — but it must be postmarked by today's deadline.

If you miss the deadline or register after it passes, the change will only apply to the next election.
