Who We Are
AudiOHmedia.com is the company website of AudiOH Media Group, based in Marion, Ohio. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site or use its features, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using AudiOHmedia.com, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter signup. Your email address when you subscribe to our email newsletter.
- Contact form. Your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
- School closings form. The school and district information, district code, school email address, and closing or delay details submitted by authorized school staff.
- Contests and promotions. Your name and contact information, such as an email address or phone number, when you enter.
- Comments. Your name, email address, and comment text when you comment on an article, along with your IP address, which helps us detect spam. An anonymized string (a hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to display a profile picture next to your comment.
- Listener texts. If you text our radio stations' listener line at 614-304-1598, we receive your phone number and your message.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers record standard log information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device information, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. We also use Google Analytics 4 to measure our audience in aggregate. We do not offer public user accounts on this site.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Publish news and operate the features of this site;
- Send the newsletter and contest communications you signed up for;
- Respond to your messages and verify school closing reports before anything is published;
- Measure our audience and improve our coverage;
- Display advertising on the site;
- Protect the site from spam and abuse, and comply with the law.
Cookies
We use cookies — small files stored on your device — for three purposes: to make the site work properly, to measure our audience through analytics, and to display advertising. If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name and email address in a cookie so you don't have to re-enter them next time; that cookie lasts one year. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand our audience — how many people read a story, roughly where our readers are, and what matters most to Ohio. Google Analytics collects usage information through cookies and reports it to us in aggregate form, handled under Google's own privacy policy. If you prefer not to be measured, use your browser's privacy settings or Google's analytics opt-out tools.
Advertising
The advertising on this site consists of our own house ads and paid sponsor banners we sell and place ourselves. We do not sell your personal information to advertising networks, and advertisers do not receive your personal information from us.
Email and the Newsletter
Our email newsletter launches November 1, 2026, and is handled through Brevo, our email service provider. If you subscribe, we use your email address only to send the newsletter and occasional related updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Your Submissions
School closings are verified against the submitting district's code and school email before anything is posted publicly. Comments may be moderated, and published comments appear with the name you provide. Listener texts may be read on air during our radio programming; please don't text anything you wouldn't want shared with our audience. Articles may also include embedded content from other services (such as audio streams or videos), which behaves as if you visited that service directly and is governed by its privacy policy.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers we need to operate — our website hosting provider, Brevo for email delivery, and Google for analytics — and only for the purposes in this policy. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our readers, or public safety.
Data Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Form submissions and contest entries are kept as needed to respond, run the promotion, and keep ordinary business records. Published comments remain with the article unless removed.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. No website or transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, and control cookies through your browser settings. You may also contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to request a correction or deletion, and we will respond as required by law.
Children's Privacy
AudiOHmedia.com is a general-audience website. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to Other Sites
Our stories and pages link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revision here and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
